Dr. Brian Song was born in Toronto, Canada and raised in Northfield, Illinois. He earned his undergraduate degree from UCLA and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Dr. Song has volunteered dental services with the MN Mission of Mercy, Common Hope in Antigua, Guatemala, and CMDA Global Health Outreach Missions in Beirut, Lebanon. He currently serves as a Council Member of the Chicago CMDA chapter.
Dr. Song has been married to his beautiful wife Leslie since 2018, and they live in the South Loop neighborhood of Chicago.
Why Did You Want to Become a Dentist?
Dentistry actually isn’t Dr. Song’s first career! After college, he worked in corporate finance and accounting for seven years, and even earned a CPA designation. However, he knew his heart was not in the industry for much longer. After a long process of self-reflection and reaching out to various healthcare professionals, he eventually met a dentist who became a mentor to him. Dr Song saw the intricate and artistic nature of dentistry, the relationships built with patients and staff, and knew this was the path for him.
One of Dr. Song’s favorite aspects of being a dentist is building genuine relationships with his patients and their families. It’s a joy catching up on life’s milestones during each checkup. He considers it a privilege to be part of the restoration process – restoring not only smiles, but confidence as well.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Song completed his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. Since then, he has remained passionate about continuing education, receiving extensive training in advanced dental implant and grafting surgery, endodontics, Invisalign, and aesthetic smile design. He will soon earn his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, a designation only 6% of general dentists have achieved in North America. Dr. Song is a member of the American Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, and Christian Medical and Dental Association.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Away from work, Dr. Song and Leslie love to host meals for family and friends. Their travels have taken them all over the world, but their favorite destinations have been Spain, Kenya, and the Seychelles. They find joy being involved in their church, South Loop Park Community Church. Dr. Song enjoys staying active by running and biking along the lakefront.
